Dirr Veterinary Services provides ambulatory/house call services.​ The main areas of focus include ruminant herd health, pet livestock health, small animal routine vaccinations, palliative care, hospice care, and end of life services including in-home euthanasia, cremation, and memorial keepsakes.

Euthanasia
We know making the final decision for your pet is not an easy process. Our goal is to provide a peaceful passing for your pet in the comfort of their favorite spot. This compassionate approach surrounds your pet with dignity, peace, and love.
Cremation
If selected, communal cremation (ashes are spread in a beautiful garden) or private cremation (ashes are returned in an urn of choice) are available. After euthanasia or natural passing, your pet will be lovingly transported. If private cremation is selected, ashes are typically returned within a week.

About
Dr. Emily Dirr is a veterinarian serving Des Moines, Ames, and the surrounding central Iowa region.
​
Dr. Emily is a proud Buckeye, having graduated with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Ohio State University. After vet school, she completed a 1-year internship at the University of Florida with the Food Animal Reproduction and Medicine Service. Following her internship, she completed a 3-year residency in Large Animal Internal Medicine at Iowa State University.​

Dr. Emily lives in Elkhart with her partner David and their 2 kids, Nora and Calvin. They have one dog, a Chocolate Lab named Sloth.
